Apology?

Hello beautiful people! This week I’d like to share one of many very proud moments of my children by posting a poem written by my daughter as a young teen ; her response to the first break-up.

You want to tell me your story and those other females don’t matter no more, but where were you when I read the first email and my tears fell through the keyboard?

I don’t understand your motives and the games you’re trying to play,, you talk s*** to me and expect me to forgive you because you had a bad day!

It’s like the clouds apologizing to us, “oh, I’m sorry it rained”, but we know rain will come again on another day.

You’re fake and you know it! You played the innocent role through your emails, but face to face you didn’t show it!

Aapology, a sorry a** excuse for something you did wrong. P-player’s never change their game, it’s always the same song. O-overestimating yourself thinking I’ll fall for your lies, L-love, you have to earn, it won’t simply fall from the sky. O-owning up to your mistakes, and admitting what you did was wrong. G-growing from your mistakes and moving on. Y-yesterday’s news, never take a step back because “bigger and better things is where I’m at”. I would forget, but me as a young lady, you disrespected……so it’s unfortunate for you, but Apology not accepted!!!!

  1. She’s a very smart lady and I’m sure your very proud of her thank you for sharing I pray that other young women will read this and take it to heart understanding that it’s not mandatory to sit and except deception, lies, abuse, and heartache one can simply choose to walk away. It will hurt for a little while but it’s a hurt that heals with time stay blessed

    1. Yes I am. I only ever wanted a boy, lol because I’d been terrified of situations like this, but apparently I did an ok job, because both children, even as adults continue to surprise me and make me proud. p.s. they’re both a bit sneaky still too haha.

    1. I was surprised when she not only showed me the poem, but openly talked w/ me about the situation. I needed that bit of confirmation to know “we” were on the right track. Thank you so much.

  2. How wonderful that your daughter shared her experience and poem with you. That shows the bond and trust you helped create with her. I wish I’d been that strong at 15. Apologies mean nothing to me unless someone really demonstrates in action that they understand how their actions affected me and hurt me, and that they are willing to change their behavior in the future. Otherwise they show no accountability or understanding and are just empty words.

  3. Booyah Tammy! Now that’s a mic drop read-your-behind kind of moment! 🎤 Oh my goodness, your daughter read Mr. Has Been from the Table of Contents to the Index!😱 Oh my gosh, I love how she didn’t give him the audacity to act like or even think that she was a desperate woman. I LOVE the way she used the APOLOGY acronym. 😜

The one I really loved: “Y-yesterday’s news, never take a step back because “bigger and better things is where I’m at”. Guuurrrrllll, I wish I had that line to use when I needed it, when I was coming of age, and after I came of age! Whew! Now, Mr. Thang, go run and tell that. Don’t mess with that sista! She did a “John Shaft” on him! LOL 🤭

    1. Omg, I can’t be doing all this laughing w/ you today Kym. Exactly why I was so proud, her maturity because I most likely would’ve taken a different route. She’s always been sharp w/ her tongue in a way that makes you stop & think. I admire that about her.

      1. I applaud her Tammy. 👏🏽 Not too many girls would have read someone who has treated them so disrespectfully and come out of it swinging a sledgehammer for a major beatdown! ⚒ Well, she certainly learned early and I am sure your life experiences rubbed off on her. Smart girl! 😀 I simply love her chutzpah! 🤜🏼🤛🏼

      2. Awww, that’s so sweet. 😍 ❤ 😘 Tell her I'm also a Cancerian! Didn't you tell me she shares the same sign??? That's how I can relate to her eloquent beat-down, like a WWF wrestler! 😂 👊🏻 🤣

  4. That is a wonderful strength your daughter had… and at age 15 too, when many others in her shoes are still finding their identify, voice and self. Kudos to you for helping shape that.

I like the quote you shared at the top. Adversity, from relationships, can bend us, but we often can recover from them and move on.

For me, after my first breakup, a lot of angsty writing and Alanis Morrissette’s Jagged Little Pill album got me through it. 😆

      1. I agree we are both amazed but where does a lady get that capability it seems super human to me!!! Whenever I see photos or video of contortionists I tell myself that can’t be possible that joints and spines can do that! I’m just thankful I can jump around and have no arthritis thank God, and do simple Calisthenics! God bless them!👍

      2. Hey I’m smiling; for now! And thank you too, for looking for the humor! I much rather see people laugh than cry who wouldn’t right, unless nuts! Darn it I cry in the movie theater if it’s a sad one, so I sure don’t want to see people doing it because of me; that will only get me going too, and give me a guilt trip on top of my problems I already got!

I remember being with a girlfriend at a theater way back when that movie “Babe” came out, and that little piggy got me crying, so I’m a soft touch, not a cry baby; but too much emotion!
        Ya know what I mean!?
        Blessings!

      3. I totally know what you mean. I tend to cry when I see road kill even though they’re use to it back in the south, but I love to laugh & be a bit goofy too at times. That’s my way of taking the edge off . Great evening to you my friend!

      4. Hey there ya go, taking that edge off; now that’s the right term! I can hear Richard Pryor or Eddie Murphy both of which always cracked me up and still do if I watch some film or old standup video; I can picture them saying that or similar stuff!

Hey I hear that about the road kill, I do feel for the wildlife too, God’s little creatures, but they do like you said with road kill; I have seen in the south and north, workers take a deer that may have been clipped on the highway, haul it away and dress it for a big feast or put all that venison in the freezer for many meals!

I have to say one time I hit one and felt really bad, but, I was doing one of my other careers driving a semi and after midnight, hauling down an interstate, one hopped over a fence and ran like the wind right into the trailer and under it, nothing I could do at all; was horrible when I pulled over to see if it somehow managed to get by, that ruined my day to be honest!

Just saw some Time Life promo on TV today with like 20 DVD’s of Richard Pryor and his whole body of work it was cracking me up to just watch the add! Now I’m thinking how that would be good to have around before the “apocalypse” I could be laughing myself to tears instead of crying!!! Dang like a hundred bucks, come on what a deal and steal; if I lose it I’ll be spending thousands in a shrink’s office!
        Now I’m thinking!!!

      5. Ahh that is some light heartened entertainment and good wholesome family fare! Those older classics now are very soothing and lively upbeat entertainment not like many of the nerve-racking and even irritating current ones! That will get ya in a dreamy mood for sure! I believe as a kids me and my siblings did go with our parents to see that at a drive-in! Drive-in theaters were always fun!
I got off on a tangent here; so yes I will and you have a good night too! Thank you!

      6. Exactly and I know what ya mean! When a kid, in my family we all couldn’t wait for The Wizard of Oz, or How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Frosty the Snowman. I know for us in those days those shows really made the Holiday complete all gathered around watching them!

I hate to say it, I see everything so fragmented or even jumbled up more now in these conflicting times. Maybe I mean; it must be more confusing to the kids now and not as straightforward? I don’t have any youngsters to gauge that by, so maybe I hope, its not as bad for them as I imagine!
        Thanks for the memories!
        God bless you and yours!
